Speaking | Individual Long Turn | Info

Tips

  • Duration: 5 minutes
  • Adopt a friendly and open attitude
  • Speak with a loud and clear voice
  • Look at the audience (even when you are comparing the pictures, look up from time to time)
  • Start with an overview (what you are going to talk about)
  • Prepare sentences that allow smooth transitions between the different parts of your speech
  • After the introduction, BP1 contains an analysis and comparison of pictures.
  • In some cases, it might be helpful to look at the picture source provided in the footnotes
  • When you get stuck, try to fill the time with examples or stories from your personal experience
  • NEVER switch to German
  • Do not let on when you are lost or stuck – smile and continue
  • End with a short summary
  • While it might be a good idea to write the first few sentences down, do not read your text from the sheet.

Structure

  • Start with an overview:
    • Mention your topic and say which three points you are going to speak about.
  • Bullet point 1 (BP 1)
    • Comparing the pictures (short description, interpretation, comparison)
  • BP 2
  • BP 3
  • Conclusion

Make transitions between the different parts.
